This is a 19 bedroom privately owned 3 star hotel in central Devon renowned for country sports, in particular fly fishing and shooting.
Weddings and functions play an important part of the business with around 40 weddings per year booked.
The owners have managed the entire operation successfully since 2007 and have built a solid team offering friendly service and a warm welcome of which they are very proud.
Now ready to take on an experienced manager to work alongside them they need an enthusiastic all rounder with a proven track record in growing businesses to improve the overall profitability of the hotel whilst maintaining good service standards and the friendly atmosphere.
The role is very hands on and customer facing so this would not suit an office based manager. We would consider a dynamic Deputy Manager looking for a step up as well as an experienced General Manager from a small unit.
The hotel is based in rural mid Devon and this location should be considered before applying.
Job Description
- To oversee the operational side of the business and have ultimate responsibility for the day to day running.
- To improve the levels of service offered and maintain it so as to achieve excellent reviews and customer feedback.
- To embrace a programme of on -going staff training and ensure all legal and health and safety obligations are met.
- To work in conjunction with the owners to market and promote the business and ensure the continuing success and profitability of the hotel.
You will require or have:
A hands-on approach to get involved personally wherever necessary, an ethos whereby nothing really is too much trouble for the customer, a proven track record in business growth under your management. Plus, expertise in cost controls and improving the bottom line, a desire to chase the sale and encourage pro-active thinking and an eye for detail unlike no-one else (until you have trained them)
